Man’s natural drive towards the search for completeness and self-com- pletion represents both a point of arrival and a new start: the quest for 27 vital lifeblood.
Energy and peace which contrast and yet complement
one another, thus potentially capable of leading to other things.
This work is based on the observation of ordinary people displaying this search for completeness. They do so through signs and peculiarities which characterise their faces, offsetting their symmetry, involving
both the perception of their own body and interacting with their perception that others have of them.
These are more or less deliberate signs, yet loved ones all the same.
Permanent or temporary characters, which are knowingly ‘worn’ and
which actually become a key part of the person who ‘wears’ them, just as it becomes voluntary and deliberate to put them on show.
It’s here that the project takes form and rolls out along a double track: on one hand, feeling complete in an aesthetic far from the classical canons – i.e. non symmetric – and on the other, wanting to feel, to show this search for themselves, to others.
A dialogue is thus established between wishing to feel unique and single, just as every shot is single and unique, and passing through the eyes of the onlooker, just as the light passes through the camera, inevitably undergoing a transformation process. The slow flow of shots through apparently similar geometries is contrasted by an analysis of forms that holds out in a crossover of gazes, where the point of view between subject and observer is confused, lost, becoming a point of confrontation, and the gazes thus intertwine in an ongoing and ambiguous dialogue between showing
and being observed.
