Master of Fine Arts
in Imaging Arts and Photography

The biennial Master of Fine Arts in Imaging Arts – Photography is an innovative teaching course held on an international level, aimed at those who have chosen photography and video as the main media by which to express their artistic practices and based not only on lessons and seminars but also on the interplay between three different yet complementary approaches:

TEACHING The master offers study courses which aim to put students in a position to learn and reflect on a number of theoretical/conceptual and methodological/creative tools, fundamental for the acquisition of a level of expertise in the field of the artistic image. The lessons, held by professionals and experts from a range of different disciplinary backgrounds, are to be looked upon as opportunities to develop one’s own critical thought as well the key themes of contemporary photography. To this sense, the lessons will take the form of lectures, seminars and practical activities.

PROMOTING The master also sets out to promote the active and creative participation of students, providing input and the opportunities allowing each student to develop their own body of work. Encouraging, stimulating and helping students to indentify and define their own line of research, and then develop their own language to express it is the second underlying aim of this master.

SUPPORTING Lastly, the master deals with supporting and valorising the work and research of students in the process of their insertion within the arts system and the world of professional photography in general. In this regard, the master sets out to provide support rather than mere evaluation, with initiatives aimed at defining development horizons and the consolidation of professional advancement.
